A BRIEF LETTER TO OUR BROTHER, ‘ABDULLAAH JAMAALUDDEEN AL MAQDISI

All perfect praise is for Allaah alone. We beseech His peace and blessings upon Muhammad (sollaLloohu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

Without going into excessive detail, I discovered after Shaykh ‘Umar Dada Paiko (may Allaah lengthen his life upon goodness) mentioned my name under your post that you levied some allegations against me. I initially ‘unfriended’ you, blocked you and moved on because I could not contain the goose bump I developed after reading your comment on one of my posts. I might have considered exchanging words with you but I fled because you did not only insult me without having any contact with me earlier, but also you were making a mockery of Shaykh Muhammad Noosiruddeen al-Albaanee (rohimohuLlaah) by comparing him with an ignoramus. I could not bear it. That’s it.

I am writing this to you so as to clearly obliterate your misconceptions about my stand on the man, Muhammad bn ‘Aliyy Jabata, and some other accusations you levied against the great Muhaddith, Shaykh Muhammad Noosiruddeen al-Albaanee (rohimohuLlaah). I shall quote you verbatim where and when necessary. I invoke Allaah to grant us safety and wellbeing.

Firstly, I advise you my dear brother that you should be wary of mentioning names of anyone who disagrees with you on issues. Of course every mistake is worth correcting, but I believe the manners to be employed in doing this should be taken from the best of mankind. You should however be able to establish a mistake for a person before rising to the occasion to correct it; else in most cases one will be fighting against the truth in the name of correction. If you read extensively about the lifetime of the Prophet, you will discover that the Messenger of Allaah would not mention names except if there was a necessity. In fact there are some transgressors that Allaah did not even mention by name despite the fact that verses were revealed to that effect. We knew many of them via books of Tafseer and explanations of the people of knowledge. Therefore, follow this excellent pattern my brother; may Allaah grant us steadfastness upon beneficial knowledge. An example is the case of Barirah. When the Messenger of Allaah heard about the claim of her masters regarding her manumission, he stood upon the pulpit and said, “What about some people who impose conditions which are not present in Allaah’s Book? Whoever imposes conditions which are not in Allaah’s Book, his conditions will be invalid even if he imposed them a hundred times.” [Soheeh al-Bukhooree]

You wrote, “A yoruba guy by name Aboo Aisha alodeomeey was found mocking shaykh aliy bin jabata and labelled him as muhaddith of nigerian dummies. He further said, the shaykh is learning how to compose lies. I do not know this jabata but I believe if a shaykh deviate that doesn’t mean you should disrespect him, disdain him or even insult him as been a jaahil. How can you mock such a person? Is jabata calling people to kufr? The shaykh has some little problem in matter of bid’ah, they say coz I do not even know him nor his students.”

In response to these assertions, firstly, your claim that I was mocking him is a bit of a misnomer. I wasn’t mocking him; I said the truth about him. No one addresses a Khoorijee as a Muhaddith except a dummy, therefore I only apprised my readers of his status. The best thing you would have done is to correct me and to establish it that the man is a Muhaddith, but unfortunately you insulted me.

As for my claim that he is a liar, I swear by Allaah that he is indeed a liar. This is not to be regarded as ‘disrespecting an elderly person’ neither is it to be considered as ‘disdaining an elderly person’. He claimed to be a student of hadeeth, but his lies are just too much. What a contradiction! Let me start by bringing before you, the statement of one of our scholars (in Nigeria) who is upon the Sunnah of the Prophet (sollaLloohu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

Shaykh Najeem bn Sulaymaan said, “He is bold on falsehood. His tongue is always drawn out. His speeches are unmarketable, rejected even false. He never smelt the Da’wah Salafiyyah let alone tasting it. Allaah’s aid is sought. [Translated by Aboo Aamir]

Read our book, “A compilation of pithy refutations on Muhammad bn ‘Aliyy Jabata al-Khoorijee, Rosheed Mustopha al-Khoorijee, and Yoosuf (Aboo ‘Abdillaah) al-Khoorijee”, you will see some of his lies with appropriate references. Permit me to mention only two here. One, he said, “Every bid’ah is (a major) disbelief; that is the statement of the Prophet.” [His tape titled ‘difference between Bid’ah and Ma’asiyah’; Time: 1 hour 16 minutes 38 seconds to 1 hour 16 minutes 40 seconds] Is this true? Two, he said, “Voting in elections is nothing in the sight of that boy known as Ejigbo. It’s nothing to him. He votes in elections and he cannot defend himself that he is not into voting in elections. Is the one who calls to voting a Sunnah (instead of Sunni; one of the errors he commits at all times regarding which his students have followed suit)? We are just deceiving ourselves…They vote in elections. In fact they were given motorcycles this year (as compensation for supporting voting in elections). (After laughing as usual, he continued), by Allaah they are into voting in elections. [The tape, “Who is a Muhaddith”]

Do you expect us to keep quite while such person is misguiding the unsuspecting folks with his misgrounded conceits? Imaam Daarul Hijroh, Imaam Maalik bn Anas (rohimohuLlaah) said, “Knowledge is not to be taken from four types of people, and is to be taken from anyone else: (One) the fool who is known for his foolishness, even if he narrates more than anyone; (two) the liar who lies on the people, even if he doesn’t lie upon the Prophet (sollaLloohu ‘alayhi wa sallam); (three) an innovator who calls people to his innovation; (four) a Shaykh who is known for his virtue and worship if he doesn’t understand what he talks about.” [Reported in al-Jaami’ li Akhlaaq ar-Roowi wa Aadaab as-Saami 1/139]

As for your comment, “Is jabata calling people to kufr? The shaykh has some little problem in matter of bid’ah, they say coz I do not even know him nor his students.” I say, in response to this; he is indeed calling the Muslims to his heresies. In the same book I earlier mentioned, there is chapter with the heading, “A glimpse at some of the errors of Muhammad bn ‘Aliyy Jabata” wherein I mentioned just twenty of his errors. You have no idea of how wicked and dangerous this man is. This is a person who excommunicated the following scholars; Aboo Haneefah, Ibn Hazm, al-Bayhaqee, Ibn Hajar, Ibn Qudaamah al-Maqdeesee, ash-Shawkaani, Ibn Jibreen, Aboo Bakr al-Jazaairee, Shaykh Bakr Aboo Zayd. Make a telephone conversation with him concerning these issues to know the truth.

Secondly, you clearly stated that you do not know him and his students, but you are rising to the occasion to defend him without inquiring about him. Is this commonsensical? How do you know that he has a little (it’s grave actually) problem as regards his conception of bid’ah? Now without excessive details, I will bring to you, the statement of some of the scholars refuting his unique view on the ruling of bid’ah in Islaam.

Shaykh ‘AbduLlaah al-Bukhooree said concerning the view of Muhammad bn ‘Aliyy Jabata on bid’ah: “The statement affirming that there is no difference between innovations is an error. What I am saying is that if anyone says there is no bid’ah which can make one become a Kaafir or that all bid’ah makes one become a kaafir (ya’ani, classifies bid’ah under one saying all are Mukaffiroh, or all are Mufassiqoh); this is a (great) error. This statement contradicts the evidences of the Qur’aan and Sunnah, and the way of the Salaf from the first Salafs till now. This statement is an innovation.”

Shaykh Yahya al-Hajooree was asked: “Is Shaykh Muqbil upon this statement that all innovations have the same ruling?” 
He responded: “No, never! Ash-Shaykh Muqbil, rohimohuLlaah, and other scholars of Sunnah used to say that bid’ah is divided into Mukaffiroh and Mufassiqoh. These explanations are very clear in their books and tapes regarding the issue of bid’ah. Shaykh Muqbil and other scholars of Sunnah upon Da’awah Salafiyyah were never confused about it. This is a mistake (from Muhammad ‘Aliyy Jabata). May Allaah guide him! This is a (great) harm upon da’awah….”

Shaykh Saleem bn ‘Eid al-Hilaalee said: “These people who insisted on their transgressions after we have explained to them with evidences; by Allaah, they are not from Salafiyyah at all…They have done a great crime upon themselves, upon the methodology of the pious predecessors, upon the Qur’aan, and upon the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah.” The tapes wherein these scholars said the aforementioned statements are available. We had earlier sent them to the Muslims; you can make a request to hear those statements directly. More details are in the book we earlier mentioned.

You wrote, “I ask the Aboo Aisha alodeomeey about some Aqeedah of d famous shaykh almuhaddith albaaneey but after he read wht I ask of him, he fled and block me. These are things I need him to explain and I need to know if he will mock albanee or not. And to tell him between jabata and the famous shaykh’s Aqeedah that is better.”

Firstly, the reason for fleeing from you had been earlier mentioned. In fact I unblocked you because of the notification I got as to my name which was mentioned under your post.

As for juxtaposing the ‘aqeedah of Muhammad bn ‘Aliyy Jabata al-Khoorijee and Shaykh Muhammad Noosiruddeen al-Albaanee, this is undoubtedly an error committed due to insufficient knowledge or absence of sincerity. So you’re trying to tell me that the ‘aqeedah of Jabata is better than that of Albaanee! With which knowledge did you measure this! I have no iota of doubt that Jabata himself will never make such claim; therefore this is just an outcome of your overzealousness. Be calm dear brother.

Secondly, after reading the stories you compiled against Shaykh al-Albaanee, I discovered that you copied them from the website of the Takfeeriyyah, people who take side with the likes of ‘AbduLlaahi Faisal. As such, I wouldn’t stoop so low to start a lengthy discussion on such issues. Praise be to Allaah; the scholars have for long written books to obliterate those extreme ideologies. You may read the book “Talbees Iblees ‘AbduLlaahi Faisal”, and some other books written on “Fitnatu Ttakfeer”.

I was surprised when I discovered that you excommunicated some brothers on Facebook. You wrote on Sep 22 at 2:46pm, “The apostate ogunkoya claimed that music is just a minor sin”, then a brother cautioned you that you shouldn’t have mentioned the brother’s name but your response was, ‘…it seems the murtad isn’t ready to desist from his evil ways…’ Do you really understand the conditions and impediments of Takfeer? Do you think it is an issue that every tom, dick and harry can delve into? Are you oblivious of the fact that many of the people on social networks are ignorant of the Deen? When Shaykh al-Albaanee debated the one who declared himself as a Prophet, what happened? He did not excommunicate him after the discussion because he believed he was extremely ignorant of the issue. This person later changed the belief the next day. If he had hastily declared him as a renegade, do you think such person will ever consider repenting from such belief? My brother, I advise you to learn the manners of the seeker of knowledge.

In conclusion, I beseech Allaah to grant us the zeal to tread the path of the Prophet appropriately without being extreme or licentious.

May prayers and peace be upon Muhammad (sollaLloohu ‘alayhi wa sallam), his respected households and companions, and on the generality of the Muslims who follow them upon goodness till the end of time.
