BEING STEADFAST ON ALL THE TYPES OF FASTING IN ISLAAM IS NOT EXTREMISM

Questioner: Is it permissible for a person to observe all the types of fasting in Islaam at all times, like the Mondays and Thursdays fasting, the three days in a month fasting (13th, 14th, and 15th day of each lunar month), Sha’baan, Romodoon, and so on. Is this not extremism?

Dr Sharof: How is it extremism? This is not from being hypocritical to yourself in as much you are capable of observing the fasts. Extremism is when you fast everyday. As for the one who fasts on Thursdays and Mondays, three days in a month (13th, 14th, and 15th day of each lunar month) , or fasting one day and not the next (alternate days fasting); all these are not from extremism in as much as you’re capable of it.
