Questioner: Assalaamu ‘alaykum
Dr Sharof: Wa’alaykumu ssalaam
Questioner: You said that if the space of the Imaam is elevated beyond one hand span, his prayer is not valid.
Dr Sharof: I am not the one who said it. Any form of elevation renders his prayer invalid. It is the Maalikiyyah that said (his prayer becomes valid) if the space is raised beyond a span. Na’am.
Questioner: That is how the mosque where I used to pray was built.
Dr Sharof: You have heard the ruling today so ask the Imaam to move back and stay on a place where everyone will be on the same level.
Questioner: I can’t tell him.
Dr Sharof: He says he can’t say it in the Yoruba level. You know in the Yoruba level they don’t tell the truth (that is, they consider the truth as extremism). Go pray in another mosque and have a rest of mind. Na’am.
